The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also spoke out against fraud, saying that it is a form of injustice and that those who commit fraud will be punished by Allah.
There are many reasons why fraud is considered a sin in Islam. First, it is a form of dishonesty and deception, which are both prohibited in the Quran. Second, fraud can cause harm to others, both financially and emotionally. Third, fraud can undermine trust and social harmony, which are both essential for a healthy society.

Here are some verses from the Quran that speak about fraud:
- “And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that you may consume a part of the people’s wealth sinfully, while you know [it is wrong].” (Quran 2:188)
- “And do not defraud one another and do not betray the trust that has been placed with you. And know that Allah is aware of what you do.” (Quran 2:187)
- “And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly. Nor give it to the rulers in order that they may wrongfully consume a part of the people’s wealth.” (Quran 3:141)
Here are some sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about fraud:
- “Whoever cheats is not one of us.” (Sahih Bukhari)
- “The one who defrauds a Muslim in his measure or weight, Allah will weigh him with a boulder on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)
- “Whoever defrauds a customer has no share in Islam.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)
