Enugu State is a state in the South-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The name “Enugu” was derived from the city in the state, which means mountain top. It is among the top ten most developed states in Nigeria. Enugu State was created out of Anambra State in the year 1991 by President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Enugu State’s Position: Enugu State is bordered to the north by the states of Benue and Kogi, Ebonyi State to the east and southeast, Abia State to the south, and Anambra State to the west. It is among the five states of the Igbo people in Nigeria, along with Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, and Imo states.
